Troubleshooting Checklist
Use this checklist before contacting support. It helps resolve the most common GardenBot issues.
1. Check Connection
Many GardenBot features require internet access, including sign-in, cloud sync, AI, subscription checks, restore purchases, feedback submission, and remote configuration.
Try:
- switching between Wi-Fi and cellular data;
- disabling VPN or network filters temporarily;
- opening GardenBot again after the connection is stable.

2. Update GardenBot
Open the App Store and check whether a GardenBot update is available. Some features may require a current app version, especially when GardenBot shows an update message.
3. Restart the App
Close GardenBot from the app switcher and open it again. Wait for startup checks to finish, including plan verification and sync.
4. Check Permissions
In iOS Settings, check GardenBot permissions for:
- Camera;
- Photos;
- Notifications;
- Background App Refresh, where available.
Permission issues can affect plant photos, AI identification, chat image attachments, feedback images, and reminders.
5. Restore Purchases
If Pro access is missing:
- Open GardenBot > Settings.
- Tap Restore purchases.
- Keep the app online while it checks your subscription.
If Apple shows the subscription as active but GardenBot does not, contact support.

6. Check Account State
If data is missing:
- confirm you are signed in with the same Apple, Google, or email account;
- remember that guest accounts may not restore across devices;
- wait for sync to finish;
- check whether you recently imported guest data into an existing account.

7. Check AI Availability
If AI does not work:
- confirm the device is online;
- check whether you reached the daily AI limit;
- try again later if the app says AI is temporarily unavailable;
- upgrade or restore Pro if the app says the feature is limited by plan;
- try a clearer photo for identification.

8. Check Reminder Settings
If reminders do not arrive:
- enable notifications in iOS Settings;
- enable Daily reminders in GardenBot;
- check the plant’s notification setting;
- check Focus modes and notification summary;
- confirm device time and timezone are correct.
Related help: Plant Care, Reminders, and Notifications.
9. Check Camera and Photos
If a plant photo, AI identification photo, chat image, or feedback attachment does not work:
- confirm Camera and Photos permissions in iOS Settings;
- try a smaller or clearer image;
- avoid screenshots or photos that contain sensitive information unless needed for support;
- retry while online.

10. Send a Good Bug Report
When contacting support, include:
- app version and build number;
- iOS version;
- iPhone model;
- sign-in method;
- exact screen or action;
- exact error message;
- whether the issue repeats;
- screenshots or recordings if safe to share.
You can find the app version in GardenBot under Settings > Version. Long-press the version row to copy it.
11. Use In-App Feedback
The preferred way to report app issues is GardenBot > Settings > Send feedback. In-app feedback can include app version, device details, screen context, and optional images, which helps support investigate faster.
Use the closest feedback category:
- bug;
- incorrect AI result;
- feature request;
- usability;
- account;
- other.
You can also report an incorrect AI identification result or chat response from the relevant AI screen when that option is shown.
