AI Identification and Chat
GardenBot includes AI-assisted plant identification, care-plan suggestions, and plant-care chat. AI features require internet access and an authenticated or guest GardenBot account.
How AI Identification Works
You can identify a plant from the camera or photo library. GardenBot sends the selected plant image to GardenBot’s backend, where it is validated and processed by AI services. The app may return:
- a likely plant match;
- alternate matches;
- a request to try another photo;
- a temporary issue message;
- a quota or limit message.
For the best result:
- Use a clear photo in good light.
- Include leaves and the overall plant shape if possible.
- Avoid blurry, dark, heavily cropped, or backlit photos.
- Avoid photos with many different plants unless you want the most visible one identified.
- Retake the photo if GardenBot asks for another image.
AI Chat
GardenBot chat supports:
- global garden questions;
- plant-specific questions;
- optional image attachments;
- recent conversation context;
- care and species context from your garden.
AI chat can help with common plant-care questions, but it may be incomplete or wrong. Review suggestions before acting on them.
Quotas and Limits
GardenBot uses server-side AI quotas and energy counters for chat and identification. Free and Pro plans may have different limits, daily refills, or feature availability. The app shows current counters where relevant.
AI may be temporarily unavailable if:
- your device is offline;
- your daily limit is reached;
- the app is checking your subscription or entitlement;
- GardenBot temporarily disables AI for free users or all users;
- the backend or AI provider is experiencing issues.
Incorrect AI Result
If an identification or chat answer is wrong:
- Use the in-app feedback option on the AI result when shown.
- Include what you expected and why the result looks wrong.
- Attach a clear plant photo if it helps.
- Do not include sensitive personal information in the image.
You can also use GardenBot > Settings > Send feedback and choose Incorrect AI result.
AI Safety
GardenBot is not a professional horticulture, veterinary, medical, toxicology, or emergency service. Do not rely on AI output as the only source for decisions involving:
- poisonous or irritating plants;
- pets, children, allergies, or health;
- mold, pests, chemicals, pesticides, or fertilizers;
- expensive, rare, or commercially important plants;
- urgent safety issues.
For serious concerns, consult an appropriate professional or local authority.
Contact Support
Use Contact GardenBot and include:
- whether the issue is identification, care-plan suggestions, or chat;
- the plant name or species if known;
- the approximate time the issue happened;
- the request ID if the app shows or includes one in feedback;
- a screenshot of the result if safe to share.
